Just some kid from the Chicago suburbs that moved to the southwest, went to law school, and ended up confronted with shifting ideals. My thoughts...boring and unedited.

space travel, racial "tension", tookie and bloody hands...

space travel is coming to new mexico compliments of virgin nutjob richard branson. what a wonderful way to use his fortune...sending other insanely rich nutjobs into space. seems virgin plans to build a tourist space port in southern new mexico...near truth or consequences (and for those of you not from here...yes, the town is named after the bad tv show). for only $200,000 you can come to new mexico and head for outerspace. i suggest you do so...this state needs your money, and needs it bad. so come spend...a lot.

another country has exploded into race riots after building "tension" for years between crackers and their mideastern/muslim friends (and by "tension" i mean bigoted hatred...it's the polite way to say it). this time it is australia, where thousands of neofascist assholes got it started before the inevitable, and understandable reply set a few days of rioting in action. ignorance breeds ignorance...and then comes the joyful pointless hatred and blame...and then you get race riots. lots of other folks point a finger at the united states for it's history of poor race relations...some of those countries need to turn that finger around. not that we are by any means beyond such stupidity...

crips founder tookie was executed in california early this morning. yet another example of the idiocy of capital punishment in this day and age. this man helped kick off the gang craze, true...but do we really think that hopeless inner-city youth, marginalized and beat down wouldn't eventually take to violent crime in an organized way? and are we really such a vengeful people that we need to kill folks, who represent no threat to our communities anymore, and who actually are working their asses off to turn kids away from the poor choices they themselves made? so what has california accomplished? are the streets any safer this afternoon then they were yesterday afternoon? not so much...there is just one less voice out there speaking against gang life. good job buddy...you did it.

there are insurgent groups in iraq wanting to get involved with the political process and tentatively reaching out to the united states to talk and work something out. these are the folks that are actually fighting for their country...not the over-zealous crazies bent on decapitation. our government is having a dilemna in talking with them though...seems we need to make sure we don't talk to anyone "with blood on their hands"...but this makes me wonder something, if our officials don't talk to anyone with blood on their hands...wouldn't they basically just be walking around washington and other political centers around the world completely silent, maybe managing the frat boy nod hello to their fellow red-handed brethren. on second thought, maybe it isn't such a bad idea...

i get so tired of missing you...
